Dobslit Serviços e Tecnologias Quânticas has achieved a historic milestone for the Brazilian technology sector. The organization has officially received the accreditation of Strategic Defense Company (Empresa Estratégica de Defesa – EED) from the Ministry of Defense. This distinction recognizes institutions essential to the development of technological competencies of national interest and firmly establishes quantum computing, communication, and sensing as vital pillars for Brazil’s technological sovereignty and cybersecurity.
What Does it Mean to Be a Strategic Defense Company?
Established by Law No. 12,598/2012 (with recent updates by Law No. 14,459/2022), the EED classification is granted to companies considered critical for the country’s scientific advancement and fundamental in preserving national security and defense against external threats.
To achieve this accreditation, the criteria evaluated by the Joint Defense Industry Commission (CMID) are highly rigorous:
- Maintain headquarters, administration, and industrial facilities in Brazil;
- Ensure that the majority voting control is held by Brazilian citizens;
- Prove highly relevant scientific or technological knowledge.
With this accreditation, Dobslit officially joins Brazil’s defense industrial base, introducing quantum technologies into an ecosystem historically focused on traditional sectors like weaponry and aerospace systems.
Kuapoã: Sovereignty and Quantum-Secure Cryptography
One of the primary initiatives that supported Dobslit’s EED accreditation was the development of Kuapoã, a quantum random number generator (QRNG) entirely designed and manufactured in Brazil.
Built in a 2U rack format, the equipment harnesses the intrinsic randomness of photonic processes to generate data that is completely unpredictable and impossible to replicate with classical computing systems. Kuapoã has direct applications in strengthening essential security protocols (such as VPN, TLS, and PKI) and shielding government and military communication networks.
Post-Quantum Security and Strategic Alignment
The advancement of quantum computing introduces new global challenges. Future quantum computers will possess the capability to breach current cryptographic standards, making research into post-quantum cryptography indispensable.
Dobslit works in close alignment with pioneering intelligence institutions, most notably the Naval Systems Analysis Center (CASNAV) of the Brazilian Navy—an organization leading national discussions on digital risks and solutions for protecting strategic communications and digital borders.
